LAND REHABILITATION

Home  |  Portfolio  |  About Me

Healthy ecosystems are the foundation for people’s wellbeing and livelihoods in the Sahel. Through my work with the World Food Program (WFP) I documented how the multifaceted challenge is being exacerbated by climate change. Investments in land rehabilitation are at the core of the solution for food security and to reduce conflict over scarce resources.

This project was implemented by WFP in collaboration with governments and partners to scale up an integrated resilience programme in the Sahel. The work focused on bringing degraded land back to life, enabling access to food and healthy diets, getting children back to school, and developing value chains to boost incomes and green jobs. Over 290,000 hectares of land were rehabilitated by Sahelians since 2018.
